Our History

“Association Offices” started as a part time venture in 1998 while founder Tony Steven worked as Executive Officer of the Retail Traders Association of Tasmania for 20 hours a week. Operations commenced in the same office as the RTA at 81 Salamanca Place on the second floor.

His first client was the Hairdressing Federation of Tasmania which contracted him to supply secretariat services and act as their Executive Officer.

This is when Association Offices moved to the 3rd floor of the CML building at 18 Elizabeth Street in 2000.

“Association Offices” became fully independent when the RTA left in 2001. Cathy Triffett stayed on with Tony helping several associations, organisations and clubs to serve their membership, the community and to achieve their goals and aspirations. Whilst at this address Robert Mallett started in 2004 and became the Client Manager other than Tony himself.

In June 2004 Association Offices moved into their own building at 121 and 123 Bathurst Street in Hobart. This was also the year that the Council of Small Business Organisations of Australia contracted Association Offices requiring an office to be set up in Canberra.

Lorraine Bennett joined Association Offices later in 2004 bringing total staff to 4.

In July 2005 the Canberra office was relocated from Oamps in Deakin to Northpoint Plaza in Belconnen to co-locate with Jonathan Brake's business Momentum TMC. From this time on we started to build with the addition of AAG as a Canberra based client.

Also in 2005 Rachel Harrod, Hannah Trewatha and Fiona Tuxen joined the team.

Other staff members that joined the team since then have included Renee Fitzgerald, Suzanne Cook, Natasha Wilson, Samantha Stennings, Melanie McMeekin.

In 2008, Tony Steven decided he had taken COSBOA as far as he could so he resigned, this saw a resizing of Association Offices and an opportunity to re focus on providing segemented services to associations rather than the all encompassing service of the past. This has seen an opportunity to market to CEO's and staff rather than just Chairs and Board members.

In 2009 Tony Steven and April Sacciccio moved to take on the Australian Medical Association and Jenny Sloane took over the book keeping role. Then in 2010 Association Offices changed from a Service or Management provider to a Facilities provider to associations. Offices space with many benefits at the Bathurst Street building in the CBD of Hobart.
